Rosemary Bliss has always known there was something different about the goods that her parents sell at their bakery. Some of them are ordinary - the carrot-bran muffins, the coconut cakes, the scones. But others... well, Rose just can't shake the thought that they're magical. When she's ten years old, her suspicions are confirmed - her parents have magic in their blood, and can bake cakes that cure illness, cookies that tell the truth, and biscuits that cause the eater to float in the air. TwoRosemary is a normal girl with the exception of having a magical cookbook. And when her parents leave for a week Rose is determined to become a magical baker herself. This book was really good but I felt like it could have ended about 50 pages before it did, meaning it kinda dragged on.

Abandoned at p71. Unfortunately the only good thing about this is the cute concept. The execution is disappointing to say the least. The characters don't act or talk like kids should. The internal monologue of the main character is far more repetitive and unsubtle than can be justified by the younger target audience. This book feels like it's really talking down to the reader.
