5 StarsFirst Drop of Crimson is a spin-off from the Night Huntress series which is Cat and Bones story. I highly recommend you read the books in order. You get so much more detail that way.Anyhow, this is Spade and Denises story.I love Jeaniene Frosts writing. Its always a win in my book and that is very hard to do in serial series. I so wished Spade and Denise could have gotten an epic series, BUT I am looking forward to Ians series!From the first page I loved the book. I wrote out a whole review and then my computer froze. Gah!Anyway, 4.5 stars for this one. First Drop of Crimson is an entertaining spin-off to the Night Huntress series. We get to dive into Spade and Denises story as they come together in this installment to kickoff their adventure in the undead world. It was fun and engaging, but not quite as stimulating as Cat and Bones. There were a few elements I struggled with in this book. I found Denise nowhere near as strong as Cat in character. Her insecurities and decisions proved to me that she doesnt come close to what Cat has to offer.
